Some children settle into nursery very quickly – others can take much longer. We always ask you or someone from home to stay with them for at least the first session after that we ask that you talk to your child’s key worker about when your child will be ready to stay at nursery without you.
Ensuring your child attends regularly is one of the most important things you can do to support their learning and development. We appreciate you telephoning us if your child is absent on 01274 722070. Please keep your child at home if they are unwell. We also ask where possible you to holidays abroad in school holiday time. If you suspect your child has norovirus then they should not attend nursery for 48 hours (2 days)
We provide food which reflects your child’s dietary needs. Water and milk are always available. There is no charge for this. Extended provision charges cover all food; in Core provision we ask for a contribution to cover the cost of a healthy snack each day. Your child may be eligible for free school meals, to check eligibility or to make an application click here.
Children can borrow books from our library to read at home. This is another important way of supporting your child’s learning and we encourage all parents and children to join.
We do not have a uniform but ask you to avoid using best clothes for nursery – some of our activities are quite messy. Safe, non-slip sensible shoes like trainers are best for nursery especially when playing outdoors.
Parents are welcome to ‘Stay and Play’ in Nursery anytime. You may like to become more involved as a volunteer if you do please just talk to a member of staff.
Each child progress will be recorded electronically allowing you to view photographs and observations at home or from your smart phone. This will show you what your child is learning and how they are developing. You are welcome to add your own observations and photographs. We will provide more information when your child starts.
We aim to keep your child safe in school but have staff qualified in First Aid in case of accidents. In an emergency we would try to contact you immediately. Please tell us if your child has particular health needs. We will discuss our Medication Policy with you before your child is admitted.
If you have a complaint please ask in the office for a copy of our Complaints Procedure. We would always encourage you to discuss any concerns – they are important to us. We also like to hear your compliments, so do let us know what you think we do well
We aim to be an inclusive school and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
